9/3/09: $100,000 Beta Leadership Fund Challenge

The 24 members of the Board of Trustees and Foundation Board of Directors have bundled their individual gifts to the Beta Leadership Fund — amounting to more than $100,000 for the organization’s FY10 annual fund drive.

8/2/09: 2009 Award Recipients

Eight outstanding individuals and 59 remarkable chapters were recognized by the General Fraternity during the 170th General Convention, heldin Phoenix, July 30-August 2.

7/27/09: Tragedy at Central Florida

Trevor Shipley, Central Florida '10passed awayin a single-vehicle crash early Friday, July 24. He was 21.

7/22/09: Wooden Institute 2009

The third and finalinstallment of The John and Nellie Wooden Institute for Men of Principle for 2009 concluded July 15. Three sessions of The Wooden Institute were offered with more than 250 undergraduates attending.

7/20/09: Everett P. Pope, 1919-2009

Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Everett P. Pope, Bowdoin ’41, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, during the early morning hours of his 90th birthday.

7/10/09: BWC 2009 Concludes

The third and final session of The Donald W. English Beta Wilderness Challenge wrapped up July 1. Three sessions were offered with year, with more than 30 undergraduates attending.

6/25/09: All Fraternity GPA Improves

With 89% of chapters reporting, Beta Theta Pi's all-Fraternity GPA for the 2008 calendar year was an impressive 3.069!

6/24/09: Richard O. Ristine, 1920-2009

Former Oxford Cup Honoree Richard O. Ristine, Wabash '41, died Saturday at his home in Leland, Mich., after a brief illness. He was 89.

6/15/09: Tragedy at Auburn

The Fraternity is mourning the death of21-year-old Bradley Langston'11, who died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single-car accident.

5/29/09: Mabus Named Navy Secretary

RaymondE.Mabus Jr., Mississippi '70, former Mississippi governor and U.S. ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was sworn in May 19 as the 75th secretary of the Navy.

5/25/09: South Florida Disbanded

The Zeta Beta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi has been disbanded and closed by the General Fraternity effective May 8, 2009.

5/25/09: Florida Atlantic Disbanded

The Zeta Delta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi has been disbanded and closed by the General Fraternity effective May 7, 2009.

5/18/09: Communications Honors

The Fraternity Communications Association recognized Beta Theta Pi's communications program as a top leader in the industry during its annual conference in Denver, Colorado, May 14-16.

5/14/2009: Tragedy at Baylor

The Fraternity is mourning the death of Brendon Mooney '09, who died as a result of injuries sustained ina single-car accident.

4/27/2009: Bowerman Named Oxford Cup Honoree

The prestigious Oxford Cup award was bestowed posthumously upon William J. Bowerman, Oregon ’33, at a General Fraternity Alumni Appreciation Dinner held at the Waverly Country Club in Portland, Oregon, April 25.

4/10/2009: Remembering John Ault, 1937-2009

Former General Fraternity Vice President John E. Ault III, Ohio ’60 passed away on April 8, 2009 in Houston, Texas.

3/24/2009: Fraternity Partners with GEICO Insurance

GEICO Auto Insurance has been saving drivers money since 1936 and now provides an additional opportunity for members of Beta Theta Pi.

U.S. Sen.Richard G.Lugar, Denison '54, the Senate’s most senior Republican and longest serving U.S. Senator in Indiana history, cast his 12,000th vote today during debate on the Public Lands bill.

2/19/2009: Beta Theta Pi Chapter at Penn State Disbanded

The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity has been disbanded by the General Fraternity effective February 19, 2009.

2/13/2009: Beta Theta Pi Returns to Southern Methodist University

Beta Theta Pi Fraternity recently ended a three-week expansion project at Southern Methodist University, securing an astounding 59 new founding fathers to join Beta Theta Pi at the University.

11/8/2008: Wachs Named Shepardson Honoree

The prestigious Francis Wayland Shepardson award was bestowed posthumously upon James S. Wachs, Cincinnati ’55, at a General Fraternity Alumni Appreciation Dinner held in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 8.
