Oxford, Ohio, May 25, 2009  — The Zeta Beta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at the University of South Florida has been disbanded and closed by the General Fraternity effective May 8, 2009. This action comes as a result of a steady decline in chapter operations, particularly with member recruitment and risk management.

The Chapter’s charter, ritual books and other Beta property will be securely stored by the General Fraternity. All undergraduate members will be moved to “alumni” status and will, upon graduation, be entitled to all benefits granted to Beta Theta Pi alumni.

Beta Theta Pi is dedicated to building men of principle for a principled life. Our brotherhood aids the individual, builds the Fraternity and strengthens the host academic institution through lifelong devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of moral conduct and responsible citizenship. The Fraternity, founded in 1839 at Miami University (Ohio), has more than 125,000 members including some 6,000 collegians on 118 campuses in the United States and Canada.
