Beta Theta Pi has always urged her members to devote themselves to development of their talents. To indicate to her members which individual efforts aid in the attainment of her objectives, Beta Theta Pi has established various forms of recognition. Like the laurel wreath of the Greek games, they signify an accomplishment itself worth more than the trophy.

The Oxford Cup

The Fraternity awards the Oxford Cup to loyal members of Beta Theta Pi who have brought honor to the Fraternity through distinguished service and accomplishments in their chosen professional field. Each honoree receives an engraved silver cup, which is a smaller version of the John Reily Knox Golden Wedding Anniversary Loving Cup.

The Francis W. Shepardson Award

The Board of Trustees developed the Shepardson Award in May 2001 to recognize brothers who embody the spirit and dedication of Brother Shepardson and epitomize the concept of lifelong service to the Fraternity. Each honoree receives a handsome full-lead crystal cup, featuring the coat of arms and the recipient’s name, chapter and class year.

Chapter Awards

The General Fraternity recognizes chapter/colony success and achievement at the General Convention each summer. Award applications are due to the Beta Theta Pi Administrative Office by May 1. Click here to access the chapter awards page.

Individual Awards

Beta Theta Pi has developed several awards for individuals, including undergraduates, alumni, volunteers and "Friends of Beta."

Fraternal 50s

Once a year, alumni who have been initiated members for 50 years receive a Fraternal Fifty certificate by mail, a gold seal for placement on their membership shingle and a letter of congratulations from the Beta Theta Pi Foundation. Additionally provided is a listing of all members of that chapter who have reached the 50-year milestone in that year. Fraternal 25s

Once a year, alumni members who have been initiated members for 25 years receive a Fraternal Twenty-Five certificate by mail, a silver seal for placement on their membership shingle and a letter of congratulations from the Beta Theta Pi Foundation. Additionally provided is a listing of all members of that chapter who have reached the 25-year milestone in that year.
