At the 157th General Convention in 1996, chapter delegates overwhelmingly approved the creation of the John Reily Knox Chapter Excellence Award. It is the highest award a chapter can receive.

Beta Theta Pi's collection of songs continues to grow. It contains songs written to long-familiar tunes, as well as those set to original music.

The Fraternity presents up to four awards for excellence in chapter publications. The competition is based on two divisions: newspaper/newsletter and magazine format.
